Carlotta Kloppenburg, a native of California and 2014 graduate of Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, has been hired as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Winthrop on Kevin Cook’s staff following one season as a graduate assistant.
“Carlotta is a winner. She comes from a strong basketball bloodline as her grandfather (Bob) was an assistant coach in the NBA for 18 seasons and her father (Gary) has coached in both the NBA and WNBA,” said Cook. “Carlotta is a rising star in the women’s basketball world.”
While playing for the PLNU Sea Lions from 2012 to 2014, she helped lead her team to the National Christian College Athletic Association playoffs and was a two-time PacWest Academic All-Conference selection.
Prior to attending PLNU, she was enrolled at Ventura College from 2010-2012 where she was an all-conference player and helped that school to a 55-9 record, including an undefeated conference slate of 24-0, two conference titles, and a trip to the state Final Four as a sophomore.
