Bucks County Community College Promotes Bright

Bucks County Community College announced the promotion of Andre Bright to Head Coach.

“I would like to thank (former) Coach Surovec for giving me the opportunity to be a part of his coaching staff,” said Coach Bright.

“I am thankful that our Athletic Director, Matt Cipriano, has shown faith in me and my abilities to lead our program,” Bright added

Coach Bright has a wealth of experience as a player and coach. He played high school basketball at Franklin Learning Center in the Philadelphia Public League, and continued his playing career at Paine College in Augusta, GA and at Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton, PA.

His coaching career began as Sports Information Director/Men’s & Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Paine College (1991-93), he then moved on to serve as Women’s Assistant Coach at Temple University (1993-95), and assisted in the Philadelphia Catholic League at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School (1995-97) & Archbishop Carroll (1998-99). He returned to the collegiate ranks as Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of the Sciences (2000-01), and coached CYO basketball at St. Mary Interparochial School (2005-12). His previous assistant coaching position was as Volunteer Assistant Coach at Cheyney University (2013-14).

He is a graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, and is a native of Philadelphia, PA where he currently resides with his wife Dionne, and his two daughters, Alexandra and Aliya.
