Brown steps down as Head Coach at Chandler Gilbert CC; Will become Women’s Basketball Assistant at Milwaukee

Fletcher Brown is stepping down from his position as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Chandler Gilbert Community College, effective immediately. Brown will be taking a position at Division I University of Wisconsin Milwaukee as an assistant coach.

Russell Luce, Coyote Athletic Director said, “The mission of Coyote Athletics is to move our people on to the next level, not just our student athletes but that sometimes goes for our coaches as well. We are sad to see Coach Brown leave but excited for him and this next chapter of his career. We want to thank him for doing a tremendous job leading our Women’s Basketball team out of the pandemic and elevating our website and social media platforms through his work as the Sports Information Director.”

Brown took over the program in 2021 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic without a semblance of a complete roster to work with. He did a remarkable job rebuilding a team from close to scratch and elevated the program by earning back-to-back playoff appearances in 2023 and 2024. He was able to move on eligible sophomores to athletic scholarship opportunities at 4-year universities in both of those seasons as well. Brown was also instrumental in the growth of the Coyote Athletics website, and campus wide marketing initiatives as well as team social media platforms in his role as the Sports Information Director.

Brown said, “I am sad to be leaving a first-class athletics department like the one here but this is a career opportunity I am not able to pass up. It was a pleasure to work with and alongside these terrific coaches. CGCC will continue to do great things, I am certain of it. I am proud to say I am leaving the Women’s Basketball program better than how I found it.”

Kyle Rechilicz, the Head Coach at UW-Milwaukee said, “Fletcher is going to be a great addition to our program at MKE. His knowledge of game and his ability to develop players will make an immediate impact. I deeply respect the the culture he has built at Chandler Gilbert; it is vastly similar to what we do at Milwaukee. We are fortunate that Fletcher has decided to join our Panther family and build our Student-Athletes into better players and people.”

Chandler Gilbert Athletics will begin a complete and thorough national search for a new coach immediately.
