The Bluefield State Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Todd Fong as the Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach effective immediately.
Coach Todd Fong comes to BSC from Maryland. He has over 10 years of head coaching experience at different levels. Coach Fong had stops at College of Southern Maryland and Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University). He has been the Director of Operations for the Tightline Basketball Camp in LaPlata, MD for over 25 years. Tightlinen is the largest basketball camp in Southern Maryland.
Coach Fong says, “I am honored and grateful and ready to hit the ground running,” about his new position at Bluefield State, “Go Blues!”
Coach Fong is excited to start a “New Era” with excitement and passion. Coach Fong would like to give thanks to President Dr. Krotseng and Interim Athletic Director Dr. Tom Hart for extending the privilege and honor to lead the Women’s Basketball into the future. Also want to think the coaches and the young ladies for welcoming me to Bluefield State.
Bluefield State’s Interim Athletic Director, Tom Hart, says, “Throughout the selection process, Todd Fong established an impressive ability to connect with student athletes and administrators alike. He has had success coaching at the NCAA Division II level in the past and we are excited to watch Coach Fong establish the high energy, up tempo approach that he is known for. In addition, Coach Fong’s commitment to “education thru graduation” is a belief that provides our student athletes with an opportunity for achievement in the classroom and on the court.”
The Lady Blues open the 2015-16 season on the road on Nov. 15th against Bellarmine University at 1 p.m. in Louisville, KY.
