Judson University Hires Sarah Nelson as Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach

The Judson University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Sarah Nelson as the Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the 2018-2019 season.

This will be Nelson’s fourth year being involved in the Judson women’s basketball program. Nelson played for the Eagles during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. She then served as a student assistant at Judson during the 2016-17 year.

“We are fortunate to have a coach like Sarah who can step in and lead our women’s basketball team as we continue to figure out the direction we will take our program,” said Director of Athletics Chad Gassman. “She has a much-needed familiarity of the university and the program and has stepped in this summer with an impressive level of leadership and responsibility.”

After graduating from Judson with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Nelson served as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA Division-III Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa., during the 2017-18 season. Nelson is an Elgin native who began her collegiate basketball career at Elgin Community College before transferring to Judson.
