Bluefield College President Dr. David Olive and Athletic Director Peter Dryer have announced Krystal Reeves-Evans as BC’s new head women’s basketball coach.

"I truly consider coaching a ministry and I’m blessed beyond measure to be at this Christ-centered institution. This is a perfect fit for me both professionally and personally."
Reeves-Evans, who most recently spent two years as the recruiting coordinator at Georgetown University, takes over the women’s basketball program as it returns to the Appalachian Athletic Conference, July 1. During her time with the Hoyas, Reeves-Evans signed the highest-ranked recruiting class in Georgetown’s women’s basketball history, with the 2013 class being tabbed No. 9 in the nation, according to Blue Star Report.

"She has a strong connection to the Christian mission of the institution, understands what it takes to be successful on the court, and is an incredible recruiter. Her passion to help her players grow on and off the court will fit in very well in our campus community."
The bulk of Reeves-Evans’ experience comes from her nine seasons at Gardner-Webb University, where her responsibilities steadily increased. After serving as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for seven seasons (2003-2010), Reeves-Evans held the title of associate head coach during her final two seasons (2010-12) with the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Gardner-Webb continually improved during Reeves-Evans’ time with the program, with its win total going from five in 2003-04 to a program-best 28 wins in 2009-10, and ultimately a Big South Conference Championship in 2011.
The conference tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth were both firsts for the GWU program, while the 23-11 record during the 2010-11 campaign also marked the first time the program posted back-to-back 20-win seasons. GWU went 28-5 overall with a 15-1 mark in Big South games the previous season, clinching the program’s first-ever regular season conference title and setting the record for the most wins in a single season by a Runnin’ Bulldogs women’s basketball team.
Her duties at GWU ranged from recruiting, scouting, fund raising and managing equipment to developing conditioning programs, serving as a guard position coach, directing community service programs, and advising student-athletes’ academic endeavors.
Reeves-Evans began her coaching career at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she served as a graduate assistant upon her graduation (2002) from the institution. She played for the Golden Eagles under her father, head coach Rick Reeves, after transferring from Liberty University in 1999.
Reeves-Evans helped the Lady Flames to the Big South Conference Tournament title and a NCAA Tournament berth as a freshman. She followed her father to Southern Miss and helped the team to the WNIT in 2000.
She earned a degree in biological sciences from Southern Miss with an emphasis in pre-med, and completed her MBA in the summer of 2008 at Gardner-Webb. She also served as an adjunct professor in the sports management department during her time at GWU.
