Binghamton Women’s Basketball Finalizes Coaching Staff

Binghamton women’s basketball head coach Linda Cimino has finalized her staff for the 2016-17 season. Torey Northup-Jones and Kirsty Leedham have been promoted while Nicole Angelo has been added to the staff. Northup-Jones, who enters her third year at Binghamton as an assistant coach, has also been named the program’s Recruiting Coordinator. Since joining the Bearcat coaching staff, she has worked with the development of the guards, which includes three all-conference selections. In addition, Northup-Jones has assisted with all facets of scouting and recruiting, as well as the team’s academics and community service projects. In addition, she oversees the team’s student managers.

“I’m excited to name Torey as our recruiting coordinator,” Cimino said. “She has proven that she has the ability to recruit talented players of high character. I’ve also been impressed with her ability to develop great working relationships with AAU and high school coaches throughout the region.”

Leedham joined the Bearcats last season as the Coordinator of Player Development. She has been elevated to Assistant Coach this year. Since joining the Bearcat staff, she has been responsible for all team travel, video coordination, recruiting materials and assisted in community service projects.

“Kirsty was instrumental in our program’s growth last season and helped in all facets of day-to-day operations,” Cimino said. “She was able to learn and grow as a professional in her role of coordinator of player development and I am happy to promote her to assistant coach this season.”

Angelo, meanwhile, replaces Leedham as the Coordinator of Player Development. A 2016 graduate of Caldwell University, she was a captain and all-conference player on the women’s basketball team. Angelo finished her career with over 1,000 points and was one of the top three-point shooters and free-throw shooters on the squad. She played her first two seasons under Cimino, who was the head coach at Caldwell from 2006-14. She is currently pursuing her masters in Public Administration at Binghamton University.

“Nicole had a great college career and I’m thrilled to bring in another former player who understands my system,” said Cimino. “She exhibits an excellent work ethic and is an extremely loyal person. I’m thrilled to give her the opportunity to bring her skills to our program as the coordinator of player development and excited that she is continuing her education as a graduate student.”

Earlier in the summer, Cimino announced the promotion of Leah Truncale to Associate Head Coach. A 2002 Binghamton graduate, Truncale is entering her 10th season as a member of the coaching staff. She was inducted into the Binghamton Athletic Department’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
