Bingham hired as Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at The College of Idaho

The College of Idaho women’s basketball program has hired Grant Bingham as an assistant coach, Head Coach Janis Beal announced this week.

Bingham joins the Yotes after spending two seasons at Simpson University in California where he worked one year with the men’s program before spending last season with the women’s squad.

Prior to serving on staff with the Red Hawks, he coached at Bakersfield College during the 2018-19 season, finishing the campaign as the interim head coach. Bingham also has extensive experience within the high school ranks in California, having spent five years at Independence High, including four as the lead assistant and one as the co-head coach. He helped Independence to a 94-25 overall record and three CIF Central Section Championships.

“We are super excited number to get someone with as much experience as he has had from the high school level to the college level,” Beal said. “I think he is going to be so good for our girls with his energy and his excitement. He wants to be here, and I think it’s going to be great for recruiting having someone who is familiar with California and who knows the high school coaches around there, so I think he is going to be very valuable in many ways. We are excited to have him.”

A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Bingham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from CSU Bakersfield and a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University-Irvine.

He is excited to make the move to Caldwell where he has already hit the ground running.

“One of the great things about this opportunity is being able to work side-by-side with Janis,” Bingham said. “I knew from last season – coaching against this team while at Simpson – what kind of talent that was in place here and the group of girls that this program has had. In my short time on campus these last few days, that has completely lived up to its expectations, which has been amazing. I’m super excited to work with the team that we have.”

Bingham and the Yotes are scheduled to begin the 2021-22 season in Redding, Calif. with a neutral site game at Simpson against Pacific Union. women’s basketball program has hired Grant Bingham as an assistant coach, Head Coach Janis Beal announced this week.
