Bill Pilgeram Named Women’s Basketball Coach at Corban University

Corban University Athletics announced on Friday the hiring of Bill Pilgeram as the new head women’s basketball coach for the Warriors.

“On behalf of Corban Athletics, we are thrilled to be bringing on Bill Pilgeram as our women’s basketball head coach,” said Corban University Assistant Athletic Director Sue Roth. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game. We had an amazing pool of candidates for this position, and Bill rose to the top, and for good reason. We feel very blessed and thankful that Bill and his wife Candice will be making this transition from Montana to Oregon, and we are confident that he is a great fit for Corban.”

Pilgeram joins the Warrior staff following more than 20 years of success coaching at the high school level at Capital High School in Helena, Mont.

“I have seen firsthand what a great place Corban is and I am very excited to be offered the opportunity to join in Corban’s mission to make a difference for Christ,” said Pilgeram.” Corban has a very strong group of women returning, and I can’t wait to get started working with them.”

Since 2006, Pilgeram has guided the Capital High School Girl’s Basketball team to 10 State Tournament appearances, including winning the State Championship in 2015. During that year, he was named the 2015 Montana Coach of the Year, and during his time as head coach of the girl’s team at Capital High, he led the squad to five conference championships.

Prior to serving as the girl’s head coach at Capital High, he was the boy’s head basketball coach for eight years, leading the team to three appearances in the State Tournament.

“I feel like Corban is a perfect fit right now as a person and coach and at a place that I really want to be a part of,” said Pilgeram.

In the mid 1990s, Pilgeram led the Colville High Boy’s basketball team to a number of District and League Championships, garnering the Frontier League Coach of the Year plaudit in 1997.

Prior to his high school coaching days, Pilgeram was a men’s basketball standout at Carroll College (Mont.). While garnering NAIA All-America Second-Team honors in 1992, as well as NAIA Academic All-America plaudits, he was the three-time Frontier Conference MVP award-winner during his time at Carroll.

Pilgeram officially begins his duties at Corban on July 1.
