Bethany College (KS) Names Jami Hodge Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

The Bethany College (KS) Swedes women’s basketball team announces the hiring of Jami Hodge as the new assistant coach.

“I’m so excited to come to Bethany and be a part of the great program Coach Ferguson has put together,” Hodge said. “While at Baker, as a player and a coach, I experienced four national tournaments, three conference championship games, and one national championship game. I hope to be able to bring this experience to Bethany and help the Swedes get to the highest level. We’ve got some great things about to happen at Bethany and I can’t wait to get to work.”

Hodge comes to Bethany from Baker University where she has been a graduate assistant coach for the women’s basketball team since June 2016. There, Hodge helped the Wildcats to a 2017 Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships with an overall record of 52-15.

Hodge assisted in the recruiting efforts of both high school and junior college athletes along with leading the monitoring of academic success of student-athletes. In addition to this, Hodge assisted in creating and implementing year-round skill development work for all players, generated and implemented a year-round strength and conditioning program, performed statistical analyses of the team performance, and lead the arrangements and logistics of all team travel.

In addition, Hodge organized fundraising and alumni-engagement efforts, maintained inventory and purchased equipment, supplies, and uniforms along with running all social media accounts, graphics, game day promotions, and player highlights for the women’s basketball team.

While a member of the Baker University basketball team, Hodge was a team captain from 2015-2016. She also helped the team to a conference championship in 2014 and national tournament appearances in 2014, 2015, and 2016, earning a national runner-up finish in 2016. Hodge was named second team all-conference in 2016 as well as being named to the ALL-NAIA National Tournament Team as the tournament’s leading scorer.

“We are excited about the addition of Coach Hodge, her experience under Ben Lister at Baker while competing at the highest level of the NAIA will provide a valuable asset to our program,” Swedes Head Coach, Keith Ferguson said. “Her work ethic and goals fall right in line with what we are about and I believe she will continue to help us bring in ‘Bethany’ kids.”

Hodge has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Marketing from Baker University. She has also obtained a Masters of Liberal Arts in Leadership and Management from Baker.
