The Washington Huskies have added more than two decades of championship-caliber experience to their coaching staff, naming Tasha Brown as Associate Coach specializing in Peak Performance. Brown brings a national reputation as an elite coach, teacher of the game, and leader in holistic development for young women. She reunites with Head Coach Tina Langley after their stint at Rice, where the two laid the foundation for the Owls’ record-breaking five-year run.
No stranger to the West Coast, Brown joins the Huskies after eight seasons at UCLA, where she helped elevate the program every year of her tenure. Between 2018 and 2026, the Bruins became a fixture in the national rankings, reached back-to-back Final Fours in 2025 and 2026, and captured the program’s first national title last season.
“Tasha is an exceptional coach, mentor, and leader,” said Langley. “I’ve had the privilege of seeing her teach the game at an elite level firsthand, but it’s her commitment to growing young women that truly sets her apart. Her holistic approach to training the mind and body has helped countless players reach peak performance. Tasha has a passion for service and is driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence. She is one of the best in the country at developing the whole person, and I am so excited for our young women to learn from her.”
Throughout her career, Brown has been entrusted with everything from scouting and player development to recruiting and culture building. As both a head coach and an assistant, she has prepped teams for marquee matchups while building an impactful curriculum for the mental side of the game. Through the “Mind Gym” framework, Brown weaves mindfulness, visualization, and intentional preparation directly into practice and game-day routines. Following last year’s championship run, her work drew national media attention, including features on ESPN and other outlets that highlighted her impact on developing the minds of young players. Most importantly, she has earned a reputation as a coach committed to the holistic development of student-athletes, pushing them toward peak performance in all areas of life.
“I am incredibly honored to join the University of Washington and reunite with Coach Langley,” said Brown. “Tina is one of the greatest teachers, leaders, and people in our profession. Her genuine care for people, commitment to excellence, and deep purpose in serving young women and those around her are inspiring. I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her again.
“It is rare to be called from one incredible place to another, and I leave UCLA with tremendous love and gratitude. Working alongside my friend and mentor, Coach Cori, our staff, and so many exceptional young women has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. My Bruin family will always hold a special place in my heart.
“I am excited for this new journey and grateful for the opportunity to join such an amazing university and program. I look forward to serving alongside a talented staff and investing in the lives of a special group of young women.”
Brown has made stops at Rice, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, UC Santa Barbara, and Western Michigan, where she spent four seasons as head coach. Over more than two decades in the profession, she has made 10 postseason appearances and helped develop 19 all-conference honorees and 18 professional players.
“We’re so excited to introduce Tasha and her husband, Darryl, to the Seattle community,” said Langley. “We know they will be cared for and deeply loved by our Husky family.”
