Linda Cimino, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux ’82 and Family Head Coach of Women’s Basketball, has announced the addition of Sean Ehlbeck as an assistant coach.

“Sean has established a strong track record of success throughout his coaching career, including two Final Four appearances at Maryland” Cimino said. “His knowledge of the game and dedication to developing student-athletes make him a tremendous addition to our program. Our players, recruits, alumni, and fans will be drawn to the passion, authenticity, and energy he brings each day. Sean’s ability to build genuine relationships will have an immediate impact on our program and culture.”

Ehlbeck comes to Dartmouth from Boston College of the ACC, where he served as an assistant coach, offensive coordinator and player development director across four seasons. In his first season with the Eagles, he helped the team upset No. 10/9 NC State and Florida State in back-to-back games. This marked the first top 10 win on the road since the 2010 season. Ehlbeck also worked primarily as a position coach for wings/off-guards, developing the most improved player on the team each year and several all-conference players.

Prior to his role at Boston College, Ehlbeck served as an assistant coach for two seasons at UTA. During his time with the Mavericks, Ehlbeck was vital in helping the team to a 20-8 record in the 2021-2022 season where they captured their first Sun Belt Tournament title in program history and nearly upset No. 4 seed Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament.

In the 2020-21 season, Ehlbeck was named as a WBCA 30 under 30 honoree as one of the top rising coaches in the industry under 30. In two seasons with the Mavs, they boasted a 33-15 record and finished no worse than second in the Sun Belt Conference.

Ehlbeck, who served as the Director of Recruiting Operations and Assistant Video Coordinator for Maryland from 2012-14, returned to the Terps coaching staff in 2016 after a brief stint at Rice where he worked as the Director of Operations and Video Coordinator.

Ehlbeck returned to the Terps wearing many hats. Over his four seasons at Maryland (2016-2019) he served as the Director of Video, Director of Advanced Scouting & Video and Director of Advanced Scouting and Player Development. The Terps went an impressive 115-20 while winning the Big Ten regular-season title in 2017, 2019, and 2020, winning the Big Ten Tournament in 2017 and 2020.

A native of Andover, Mass., Ehlbeck graduated from Maryland’s R.H. Smith School of Business with a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management in May 2013.
