INTERIM TAG REMOVED: Golladay named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Nebraska Wesleyan

Nebraska Wesleyan University Director of Athletics Dwight Merilatt announced that Sydney Golladay has been promoted to head coach of the Prairie Wolves women’s basketball program, removing the interim designation effective immediately.

A native of Fremont, Nebraska, Golladay enters her second season on staff after joining the program prior to the 2025-26 campaign as an assistant coach. She was named interim head coach in late November and led Nebraska Wesleyan to five victories while continuing to shape the program’s direction.

“I’m excited that Sydney will be leading our women’s basketball team as our head coach,” Merilatt said. “She is deserving of this promotion, and I know she will do a tremendous job leading our women’s basketball team.”

The Prairie Wolves had a three-win improvement overall and a one-game improvement in league play from the previous season. Nebraska Wesleyan also swept University of Dubuque for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

Golladay came to Lincoln following an extensive and successful collegiate career at Fort Hays State University and Creighton University. At Fort Hays State, she was a four-year starter and two-year captain and served as the women’s basketball representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

She earned a bachelor of science in elementary education from Fort Hays State and later completed a graduate certificate in organizational leadership at Creighton.

“I am extremely excited and honored for the opportunity to lead the women’s basketball program at Nebraska Wesleyan University,” Golladay said. “I would like to thank Dwight Merilatt and Erin Dwyer for their continued support and belief in me and my vision. Nebraska Wesleyan is truly a special place, and I look forward to continue growing our program, support our student-athletes on and off the court, and strengthen the relationships within our team and community.”

Nebraska Wesleyan continues offseason workouts in preparation for the 2026-27 season under Golladay’s direction.
