Davidson named Women’s Basketball Head Coach at D2 Christian Brothers University

After seasons of growth, grit, and heart, Christian Brothers University proudly turns the page to an exciting new chapter with the appointment of Samantha Davidson as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

“I’m excited to be joining the CBU Women’s basketball program and appreciative of Dr. Jackson for trusting me to lead it. There’s a ton of potential with the program, and I’m looking forward to bringing new energy and direction. The goal is to quickly become competitive within the Gulf South Conference and beyond.”

With a reputation for building not only winning teams but also strong young leaders, Coach Davidson brings 10+ years of experience to CBU. Coach Davidson led the Valkyries to notable accomplishments, including Co-Division Champion. At Schreiner, Davidson coached six student-athletes who received all-conference honors. Accolades include four second-team, four third-team, one honorable mention, and one newcomer of the year award. Additionally, 14 student-athletes were named to the All-SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

Known for her high-energy approach, relentless work ethic, and player-first mindset, Coach Davidson is poised to introduce a new culture of discipline, fast pace, and championship-caliber defense at Christian Brothers University.

Off the court, Coach Davidson is committed to shaping well-rounded student-athletes who thrive in the classroom and the community. Under their leadership, the team will focus on values such as accountability, respect, and resilience — a foundation for success that extends far beyond the game.

Davidson was a four-year standout player for Birmingham Southern and was at Rhodes College for two seasons under head coach Matt Dean before going to Schreiner. During her tenure at Rhodes, Davidson coached five All-SAA players. The team finished in the league’s top three in all defensive categories and also finished second in the league in three-point shooting.

Before her time at Rhodes, Davidson served as assistant girls’ basketball coach at Webb School (TN) and helped the team win a state title during her one-year tenure in the position. Before that, she served under Hall-of-Fame head coach Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee for one year. While on the Lady Vols staff, she worked with current UT head coach Holly Warlick.

At BSC, Davidson was a three-year starter and four-year player who concluded her career in the program’s top five in career assists and ranked in the top 10 in 3-pointers made, 3-point shooting percentage, and free throw percentage.
