Description:

DME Academy seeks a Girls Basketball Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. This coach works closely with the Director of Girls Basketball and is responsible for assisting with the national team and being the head coach of the prep team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and engaging environment for athletes.

Duties

  • Work with the Athletic Director and Director of Girls Basketball in a highly competitive program at a dynamic, forward-thinking sports academy that is able to compete at a high level while also embodying DME’s spirit of sportsmanship, integrity, dignity, respect in competition and excellence in the classroom.
  • Assist in all aspects of the Girls Basketball program – on court skill development, film breakdown and scouting, practice planning, game management and preparation, in-game coaching strategy, transportation, and daily basketball operations.
  • Monitor student-athletes within the program’s behavioral and academic progress
  • Recruit high character individuals to DME Academy that are mission appropriate student-athletes
  • Assist in the placement of student-athletes to top colleges and universities that are the right fit.
  • Establish effective relationships with players and coaches within the program, as well as other athletic coaches and faculty on campus.
  • Communicate effectively with players and their families or agents

Experience

  • Previous experience in sports coaching is preferred; experience in basketball coaching is highly desirable.
  • Skills in behavior management to effectively guide young athletes in their development.
  • Background in teaching physical education or related fields is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate playing experience and/or professional playing experience
  • High school or collegiate coaching experience
  • Desire to be actively engaged in the school community
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to support the residential life needs of a boarding school community

Compensation:

  • Salary (commensurate upon experience)
