Chrys Jackson joins Centenary Women’s Basketball Staff

Former Centenary men’s basketball player Chrys Jackson has joined the Centenary women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Paul Reed and Director of Athletics and Recreation David Orr have announced.

Jackson, a native of North Las Vegas, Nev., played two seasons for the Gents (2022-23 and 2023-24) after transferring from Oxnard College. Jackson played in 29 career games as she averaged 9.6 minutes per game, 2.9 PPG, and was a member of the Gents’ 2023-24 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Jackson will assist Reed and work alongside a pair of volunteer assistants this season in Matthew Graham and Lynette Taylor. He was a finalist for the 2024 SCAC Man of the Year award, a two-time SCAC Academic Honor Roll Honoree, represented the men’s basketball program on the Centenary Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, member of the Dean’s List with a 3.78 GPA as an English major, a Centenary student ambassador, a team captain for two seasons for the Gents, a two-time member of the SCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team, and was featured for the SCAC Character & Community award last season.

The Ladies will play a pair of exhibition contests in preparation for their 2024-25 season – Oct. 30 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and on Nov. 4 at Grambling State University before tipping off the regular season at Hendrix College on Sunday, Nov. 10.
