Texas A&M International names Jaida Williams Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Texas A&M International University proudly welcomes Jaida Williams as the new head women’s basketball coach. Williams joins TAMIU after a successful tenure at Ole Miss, where she served as an assistant coach under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, contributing significantly to the program’s achievements, including their historic 2023-24 season.

Williams brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the Dustdevils. Prior to her time at Ole Miss, she spent nine years at Coastal Carolina University, where she reshaped the Chanticleer program, achieving milestones such as a program-record 25 wins in a single season and multiple postseason appearances.

Director of Athletics Griz Zimmermann expressed confidence in Williams’ appointment, highlighting her transformative impact at previous institutions and her commitment to developing student-athletes.

“We are delighted to welcome Jaida Williams to TAMIU,” said Zimmermann. “Her extensive coaching experience, particularly in enhancing player performance and achieving program milestones, makes her the ideal leader for our women’s basketball program. We look forward to seeing her vision unfold and the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our student athletes.”

Williams is an active member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

As a player, Williams was a standout for Cal Poly Pomona from 2002-05, assisting the Broncos to a 23-7 record as a senior and a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament Regional Final. Williams graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
