Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Derek Schmitt has announced the hiring of Megan Dixon as the 12th head women’s basketball coach in program history.
Dixon served as an assistant coach with the Lions during the 2023-24 campaign. She helped guide Eastern Nazarene to a 12-12 record and a North Atlantic Conference Tournament appearance last season.
“We are very excited to have Coach Dixon as the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach at ENC. After an impressive playing career at UMass-Boston, she stepped into the role of Graduate Assistant at ENC last fall and did very well as she coached the players, provided skill instruction, and much more. We believe Coach Dixon is the right person to lead the Women’s Basketball program which gives us excitement for the future of the program, and I am especially looking forward to seeing her continued professional development,” offered Schmitt.
“I am honored and excited to be appointed as the new head coach of the ENC Women’s Basketball team. This is a tremendous opportunity, and I am thrilled to join such a dedicated and passionate group,” commented Dixon. “I look forward to working with the talented student-athletes I’ve grown to love over the past year and I am excited to build a strong culture in which we will strive for excellence both on and off the court. I can’t wait to get after it this season!”
A graduate of UMass-Boston, Dixon excelled on the hardwood for the Beacons as she holds two program-records and ranks eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,090 career points. Dixon was twice named to the All-Little East Conference first team and earned a spot on the D3Hoops.com All-Region second team. She was a member of the UMass-Boston squad that captured the program’s first-ever Little East Conference championship and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Dixon has worked camps and clinics at UMass-Boston and Boston College and has served as a head coach with the Breakout Basketball’s AAU program.
A native of Hanover, Massachusetts, Dixon is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Higher Education Administration from Eastern Nazarene College.
