Hendrix College announces Wes Sullivan as the next head women’s basketball coach of the Hendrix Warriors.
Hendrix College has announced Wes Sullivan as its new head women’s basketball coach. Sullivan arrives to Hendrix after spending the 2021-22 season at Arkansas Baptist College as the head men’s basketball coach. Sullivan was tasked with helping aid the Buffaloes transition from NJCAA to NAIA.
Prior to Arkansas Baptist, Sullivan was the head men’s coach at cross-town rival Central Baptist College from 2013-17. Sullivan took over a struggling Mustang squad 1 week before the school year started and took the school to a then program record 23 wins in his final season, including a NCCAA Central Regional Championship and a #10 national ranking. Sullivan coached 3 All-Conference selections as well as an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. Sullivan is 4th all-time in program wins.
Prior to Central Baptist, Sullivan spent one season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Hendrix College. In his lone season with the Warriors, Sullivan helped coach the Southern Athletic Association Newcomer of the Year, as well as an All-SAA First Team selection and an honorable mention.
From 2008-12, Sullivan served as the Director of Coaching for Team Arkansas Elite girls basketball program. Under his direction, Arkansas Elite captured 14 AAU State Championships, appeared in seven national AAU Final Fours and won one AAU National Championship.
Sullivan was an assistant baseball coach for the University of Central Arkansas in Conway for three seasons in the late 1990s before leaving the profession. He played baseball for one year at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, then transferred to UCA where he was an All-Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player in 1993.
A native of Little Rock, Sullivan graduated from J.A. Fair High School in 1989 and lettered in four sports.
Sullivan currently resides in North Little Rock, Ark. with his wife Jennifer and has three daughters Julia, Riley and Clara, who is a Junior for the Warrior Soccer team.
