Lake Erie College Athletics announced today that Lauren Macer has been named the next head coach of the Storm women’s basketball program.

Coach Macer’s passion for the game, knowledge of NCAA Division II, dedication to player development, and commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture make her the perfect fit for our program. We believe that under Lauren’s leadership, our student-athletes will not only excel on the court but also thrive academically. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our athletes and the entire Lake Erie College community.”
Macer comes to Lake Erie after spending two stints as the head women’s basketball coach at Notre Dame College (NDC). In between stints Macer was an assistant coach on Purdue Fort-Wayne’s staff. During her first season, the Mastodon’s made a Horizon League Tournament Semifinal run. Throughout her five seasons at the helm for NDC, she compiled a record of 89-51 and made the Mountain East Conference Tournament each year. The 2019-20 season was the most successful as Macer’s Falcons set program records with 26 wins, 18 conference wins and 12 road wins. The Falcons reached the MEC Tournament championship game before qualifying for the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in program history. Notre Dame’s offense ranked 15th in NCAA Division II with 79.2 points per game, 34th with 458 assists and 35th in field goal percentage at 44.3-percent. NDC was third in the Mountain East Conference in assists to turnover margin at 1.07. On defense, the Falcons ranked 15th in the country in total steals with 344 and 23rd with 11.1 steals per game. They ranked second in the MEC by allowing just 70.4 points per game, third in field goal percentage defense at 40.8-percent and second in blocks with 111.

I am committed to developing our team to be confident student-athletes as we compete each time we step on the court. I look forward to building relationships with the players, diving into recruiting, and connecting with the Storm community. We are going to have a ‘we first’ mentality and move forward together with high standards and ultimate success. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends as I begin here at Lake Erie College. I’m excited to get everyone together and get to work.”
