Lindsay Fearing was named the head coach of the Women’s Basketball program at New Mexico Highlands University. That announcement was made by co-Directors of Athletics Jim Deisler and Shanna Halalilo.
“I am thrilled to welcome Lindsey as the next head coach for Cowgirl Basketball,” said Deisler. “She did a great job impressing the search committee with her confidence and vision for the program. I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the coming years.”
Fearing spent the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons as the assistant coach of the Cowgirls basketball program. In her tenure as assistant she played an integral role in working with Cowgirls guard Juilana Arigon who earned All-RMAC recognition in back-to-back seasons.
Prior to her time as an assistant at New Mexico Highlands, Fearing was the Head Coach at Central Wyoming College from 2018-2022 where she saw a number of her players move on to four year programs. Before Central Wyoming, Fearing was an Assistant Coach at Gillette College from 2016-18. She began her coaching career at Lead-Deadwood High School in South Dakota.
Her collegiate playing career began at Casper College where she helped her team to back-to-back NJCAA Region IX Championships and she earned Juco All-American honors. She then played a year at the University of Arizona before playing her final year at Black Hills State in the RMAC.
Fearing earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Coaching from Black Hills State University and a Masters in Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Nebraska.
“I’m so excited to continue my career as the Head Coach of New Mexico Highlands University,” said Fearing. “Las Vegas and the community have become home since I moved here two years ago. I’m excited to align the past with the present and celebrate the good that the women’s basketball program has had. #gocowgirls!”
