Austin Peay State University head women’s basketball coach Brittany Young has announced the hiring of assistant coach Victoria Morris and director of basketball operations Alex Edwards. Additionally, Peggy Knight has been promoted to assistant coach for the Governors’ women’s basketball team.
Morris, who played collegiately at Old Dominion where Young was the assistant coach from 2017-20, joins Young’s staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 season.
During her time at Old Dominion, Morris was the 2017-18 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, an All-Conference Freshman team member, and a three-time Conference USA Freshman of the Week. She was also a Second Team All-Conference team honoree in 2018-19. Morris served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2017-2021 and was the vice president for a term. She also was a representative for the Conference USA SAAC.
She spent her graduate year at Rutgers where she appeared in 31 games for the Scarlet Knights after playing professionally for Fjolnir Karfa in Reykjavik, Iceland, 2022 and the St. Louis Surge, a member of the Global Women’s Basketball Association.
Morris earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion in 2021 and earned a Master of Arts from Rutgers University in 2023.
Edwards, who has been a member of Austin Peay Athletics since 2020, will serve as the Governors’ director of basketball operations.

A graduate of Austin Peay, Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematics Education in 2022 and currently is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Quantitative Methods with a concentration in Math Instruction.
Knight, who is in her first season with the Govs, joined Young’s staff in April as the director of player development.
She came to Clarksville after serving as a recruiting coordinator and interim assistant coach at Mississippi State, 2021-23. Last season, Mississippi State became the first time in NCAA Tournament history to reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament after being selected as a First Four team due largely on account of the highest-rated recruiting class in program history which ranked 16th nationally.
Prior to her time in Starkville, Mississippi, Knight spent three seasons as head coach at Lake Mary High School before beginning her coaching career at UNLV, 2016-19.
The Governors begin their 2023-24 season with a 5:30 p.m., Nov. 6 game against Trevecca at F&M Bank Arena.
