Seton Hill University President Mary Finger has announced the promotion of Maeve Gallagher to head women’s basketball coach. Gallagher replaces Mark Katarski who will move into the role of Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations.
“I want to thank Dr. Finger and Chris Snyder for their belief in me as the next leader of the Seton Hill women’s basketball program,” said Gallagher. “I’ve dreamed of this since being a kid on the sidelines with my dad. I’m ecstatic to take on a new role in this community and continue to grow the women’s basketball program as a force in the PSAC. Thank you to Mark Katarski for allowing me to be submerged in every aspect of Seton Hill, on and off the court; I’ve learned the Griffin way, the right way. I have been blessed with infinite guidance from mentors with national championships, 500 wins, Hall of Fame inductions, and more. It was through them I learned that the journey is what matters, and I cannot wait to pursue every step of this journey with our young women and the Seton Hill community. “

I am looking forward to many great things in the future from our women’s basketball program.”
Gallagher has spent the past two seasons as an assistant for the Griffin women’s basketball program. Over her two seasons on the bench, the Griffins have had a .610 winning percentage and qualified for the PSAC Tournament in each season. Maeve has coached four All PSAC West selections including the PSAC West Rookie of the Year in 2021-22.
Prior to Seton Hill, Gallagher spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Washington and Jefferson College. In her two seasons with the Presidents, W&J had two winning seasons and advanced to the PAC Championship game twice. She coached six All PAC selections and the PAC Player of the Year.
Gallagher spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant on the staff at Division I Longwood University. Before Longwood, Maeve was an assistant at W&J for three seasons where the team went 62-22 and 44-10 in PAC play. The Presidents earned three top three finishes, advanced to two ECAC Tournament Championships and had two 20 plus win seasons. She also spent time as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Mt Union and spent one season as a volunteer assistant at California (PA).
Maeve was a three sport star at Point Park as a student athlete where she participated in soccer, basketball and softball. She was a member of two conference championship teams in basketball at Point Park.
