Findley Named Assistant Coach at Ottawa University

Ottawa University head women’s basketball coach, Hunter Bondurant, is pleased to announce the hiring of Alana Findley as the program’s new assistant women’s basketball coach.

“We are excited about Alana Findley joining our staff,” said Bondurant. “Coach Findley comes from one of the best NCAA Division II programs in the country where she was a high-level post player and was exposed to some of the best coaching in the industry. She will serve as an excellent role model for our program both on and off the court and will be bringing a ton of new ideas to Ottawa basketball. I personally can’t wait to see the huge positive impact she will make on our entire program and the Ottawa University campus in general. Our current and future players are lucky to have her!”

Before joining the Braves, Findley was a four year letterwinner (2019-2023) on the basketball court at Drury University. She was a First Team All-GLVC selection and earned First Team All-Region honors. Findley was named to the Academic All-GLVC Team and was on the Dean’s List.

In her four seasons at Drury, Findley averaged 10 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She shot 51 percent from the floor, 39.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. Findley was a 1,000 point scorer, finishing her career with 1,241 points.

Findley helped the Panthers to a four year record of 119-9, an undefeated 2019-20 season that was cut short due to COVID-19 (32-0), a NCAA Division II National Runner-Up finish (2020-21), and two NCAA Division II Midwest Region Semifinal appearances.

“Basketball is a huge part of my life that brought me lots of joy and success,” said Findley. “I know what it takes to be a successful program and I also know the hard work and dedication it takes as a staff and team. Coach Bondurant has already done so many great things with this program and I know our girls have the skill and characteristics to be successful. Getting to be part of the Ottawa team is a honor that I am beyond excited about beginning. Looking forward to all the great things this school and program bring and thankful for all the people that helped me get here.”

After her basketball career finished at Drury, Findley was a basketball trainer with Redline Athletics from May 2023 to August 2023. As a member of the staff at Redline Athletics, she worked with small groups on their basketball skills, planning and creating drills for those groups. She was also a graphic design intern with Allison Sports Town from January 2023 to May 2023.

While at Allison Sports Town, she worked with athletic directors to design and develop social media graphics. Findley also created promotional flyers and team logos while helping coordinate sporting events.

Findley graduated from Drury University with a degree in digital and graphic design. She minored in religion, fine art, and philosophy. Findley also received a sports leadership certificate at Drury University.

What former Drury Head women’s basketball coach Amy Eagan, now head women’s basketball coach at Lindenwood University, has to say about Coach Findley.
“When you look at one of the best players to ever do it in a Drury WBB jersey, you will see Alana Findley’s name. She had so much talent and was one of my favorite players to coach and to just sit back and watch. But… what I will always remember most about Alana was her humbleness, her love for her teammates and the program, and her willingness to play whatever role was needed day in and day out. I am so very happy for and proud of Alana! Ottawa WBB just got better with this hire! She will have an immediate impact on the people in the program and I cannot wait to follow all her success in the coaching world!”
