St. Bonaventure University women’s basketball head coach Jim Crowley has announced the addition of Chad Smith as the team’s video coordinator, completing his staff for the 2023-24 campaign.
“Chad is just a basketball guy,” Crowley said. “He is someone who is committed and loyal to helping whatever program he is with. Chad is going to give us a little different perspective, but has great experience for the position we are hiring him in. We are excited to have him on board and help us get the program back to where we want it to be.”
Smith comes to Western New York after spending last season as a graduate manager with the Evansville men’s basketball team where he assisted the coaching staff with film breakdowns and conducting on-court workouts.
Prior to his time in Indiana, Smith served as the 16-U head coach and director of operations for the Built4Ball AAU program from 2019-22 while also working as a scout for the high school scouting service Prep Hoops in Spokane, Wash. He has also spent time as the assistant coach at Cheney High School from 2018-20 as well as the Fort Drum Post Team from 2016-18.
Before Smith began work in basketball, he served the U.S. Army for 10 years from 2008-18, earning an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, an Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars and an Army Good Conduct Medal.
Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in May 2022 from Gonzaga University and is working toward a master’s degree in leadership from Evansville.
