Director of Athletics David Babb and the Cairn University Athletic Department have announced that Allen Kuiper has been named the 23rd Head Women’s Basketball Coach in program history, made official by the University on Thursday. Additionally, Kuiper will serve full-time in the department as Cairn’s Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations.
“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to become Cairn’s Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations and lead the Women’s Basketball program at Cairn University.” remarked Kuiper on his appointment. “It has been a dream of mine to become a collegiate head coach. Through God’s blessings and faith from Cairn University, this is now a dream fulfilled! I am excited to be a mentor to the student athletes and be a part of their journey into adulthood. I look forward to engaging with the community and becoming a part of the fabric of Cairn University. I am truly thankful for the athletic staff at Cairn for their belief in me and making me feel at home. I give God all the glory in my appointment as Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations and Head Women’s Basketball Coach. I am ready to sweat and serve!
Coach Kuiper is passionate about working with student-athletes to teach them core sports principles, teamwork, and lifelong strategies for success.
Prior to coming to Cairn, Kuiper spent the 2021-2022 season at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Kuiper’s main responsibilities included skill development (both guards & posts), scouting, community outreach, fundraising and recruiting. That season the Lady Falcons were able to achieve second seed in the CIAA Southern Division. Kuiper was also able to assist in freshman standout Lauren Banks in achieving All-CIAA Rookie Team mention.
From 2020-21, Kuiper served as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Fayetteville Christian School in Fayetteville, NC. The Lady Warriors placed third in the NCISAA Sandhills conference and earned a NCISAA playoff berth.
In 2016, Kuiper served as an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for The College of New Jersey’s under Head Coach Dawn Henderson. His responsibilities at TCNJ included skill development, scouting, and recruiting.
Kuiper also has 10 years of grassroots coaching experience in both New Jersey and North Carolina. He has most recently coached for the Carolina Flames EYBL program.
Kuiper has been personally mentored and certified by NBA/WNBA skill trainer, Ganon Baker.
Kuiper is a graduate of Thomas Edison State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2020. Coach Kuiper is married to Jessica Kuiper, and they have one dog, Rosco.

Allen will also be serving as an Assistant Athletic Director, and are looking forward to his impact not only on the team and athletic program but on the Cairn student body as a whole!”
Kuiper inherits a women’s basketball program that finished 9-17 in 2021-22 and qualified for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs. The Highlanders open up their season Tuesday, November 8 on the road at Pratt Institute at 7 p.m.
