Coleman named Head WBB Coach at D3 Thomas College

Thomas College Director of Athletics Christopher Parsons announced the hiring of Jason Coleman as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach on Tuesday, April 12.

“I am thrilled to welcome Coach Coleman to our athletics staff,” said Parsons. “He brings a wealth of experience from all levels of coaching and a passion for coaching. I look forward to watching him elevate our women’s basketball program.”

Coleman takes over at the helm of the Women’s Basketball program at Thomas after having previously served as the head coach of the men’s team at the University of Maine-Augusta since 2020. Previously he spent the 2018-2019 season as the Director of Recruiting and Basketball Operations for the University of Maine.

As an AAU coach, Coleman led his teams to two National championships. His AAU success also includes five state championships, three of which were in Maine. He also coached AAU basketball in Indiana and South Carolina. Coleman was named Coach of the Year on three different occasions.

“I am extremely grateful and humbled to be joining the Thomas College family,” Coleman said.  “I am very appreciative to Athletic Director Chris Parsons, Dr. Tom Edwards and the hiring committee for trusting me in this position and giving me this opportunity. I am excited to get started building relationships with our returners as we start to lay the foundation for our program. It is an honor to be joining a conference with such great coaches that will challenge me to be my best every day. We are very excited to be joining such a strong and supportive community.”

Since relocating back to Maine in the fall of 2010, Coleman has immersed himself as a successful coach in the local sports scene in the Greater Bangor area. As the head coach at Orono High School from 2011-2018, Coleman led the Red Riots to three regional finals appearances over seven seasons.

Coleman and his wife, Kylie, reside in Orono with their three sons.
