I can confirm that Matt Schmidt is no longer the women’s basketball head coach at Wheeling University (WVa).

Schmidt was hired last July after spending the previous eight seasons as an assistant at Duquesne. In his only season at Wheeling, Schmidt’s squad went 8-20 (7-15 MEC).

In addition to his time at Wheeling at Duquesne, Schmidt also served as the head coach at Armstrong Atlantic, and an assistant at Northern Kentucky, West Virginia, UMBC, and Findlay.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
