MCLA’s Director of Athletics Laura Mooney has announced the hiring of David Bostick as the new Women’s Basketball Coach. Bostick previously served as head coach at Becker College for the past seven seasons where twice he was named Coach of the Year in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). Bostick will begin his duties full time in August.
“I am extremely excited to welcome David to our Trailblazer team,” Mooney said. “David’s passion for basketball and his commitment to providing a positive and competitive environment for our student-athletes made him the ideal choice to lead our team. I am confident his experience and his strong recruitment ties will position our women for success.”
Bostick had a decorated stint at Becker. After taking over at his alma mater in May of 2014, he quickly made an impact for the women’s program. He led the Hawks to their first ever NECC conference championship in 2018 in just his fourth season at the helm. This marked the second time in Becker’s history that the team would advance into the NCAA tournament. They reached the NECC finals again in 2019 after going 15-3 in conference play. Bostick has coached numerous All NECC players and a conference rookie of the year.
Bostick is no stranger to the MASCAC as his first head coaching job was with conference rival Fitchburg State back in 2013-14. While there, he would lead the Falcons to the MASCAC tournament in his only season.

I would like to thank Dr. Birge, Catherine Holbrook, and the search committee for allowing me to help build and bring success back to this great program,” Bostick commented about the hire. “In this process I have felt nothing but pride and dedication towards the students and their athletic experience and academic success. I am excited to work with this great group of women to compete in this conference. I can’t wait to get started!”
Bostick is the tenth head coach in Trailblazer history. He takes over a program that has not competed since February of 2020 due to the pandemic. Bostick replaces Loren Stock, who led MCLA for four seasons. Additionally, Bostick will become a part of the Communications team within the Athletics Department. Bostick’s Trailblazers will begin play in November 2021.
