Quincy University has announced Kaci Bailey as the next head women’s basketball coach today (April 19). Bailey comes to QU from George Mason University where she served as the assistant women’s basketball coach and assistant recruiting coordinator for the past four years.
“Kaci Bailey has had an outstanding career as a basketball player and coach, with strong ties to Illinois and the Midwest,” said Brian McGee, QU president. “She will be a great fit for our community and an inspiration to our players, students, alumni and fans. We proudly welcome her to Quincy.”
Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a master’s from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was a Missouri Valley All-Conference Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Southern Illinois Women’s Basketball Conference Championship team in 2007.
“Energy, pace, charisma, class … these were the hallmarks we wanted in our next women’s basketball coach. Bailey rose to the top of this national search. She captivated everyone during her phone interview and on-campus interview,” said Josh Rabe ’01, M.S.E., associate athletic director. “We cannot wait to see her in action and restore the proud tradition of QU women’s basketball.”
During Bailey’s tenure at George Mason, the women’s basketball program set a single-season school record for wins with 24 and won a postseason game for the first time in program history. In addition, Bailey coached the conference player of the year and rookie of the year and achieved a team GPA of 3.58.
Prior to joining George Mason, Bailey was the assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Wichita State University and the University of Central Arkansas. She also served in the same role at Henderson State University, where she had the additional role of interim head women’s basketball coach for six months.
