Caldwell University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Torey Chatman resigned her position as head coach and assistant athletic director to pursue other professional opportunities.
“We certainly wish Torey well as she moves on to a different part of her career,” said Assistant VP/Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino. “Torey was an outstanding student athlete for the Cougars over four year career. She returned to Caldwell to lead our women’s basketball program and serve as an administrator as an integral part of our department for the past four years. We will miss her and wish her the very best in the next steps in her career.”
In her four seasons, she guided the Cougars to an NCAA Division II Tournament berth for the second time in program history. Chatman led the Cougars to the conference tournament all four years, which included a trip to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference semifinals in 2018.
Chatman said, “It has been a true honor to continue my career as a coach and administrator here, at my alma mater. Caldwell will always hold a special place in my heart. To Mr. Corino: You have supported me since my journey began here at Caldwell University as a student-athlete. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn from you, and for your unwavering faith in me as a coach and administrator. You have taught me life lessons that I will take with me throughout my professional career. To the Sisters of St. Dominic: Thank you for instilling in me the core values of Respect, Integrity, Community, and Excellence. Caldwell University Athletics continue to thrive because of the foundation you have built. Lastly, to all of my players I have coached in the last four years: It has been a privilege to watch you grow into strong collegiate athletes, hard-working scholars, and phenomenal young women. I feel immense gratitude that I was able to be a part of your journey as student-athletes here at Caldwell University.”
The athletic department will begin an immediate national search for her successor.
