First-year head coach Kelly Mahlum and the St. Olaf College women’s basketball program announced that Angie Kissock will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2020-21 season on Thursday.
Kissock previously served as the head girls basketball coach at Chanhassen High School for 10 seasons from 2009-19. A former NCAA Division II student-athlete at the University of South Dakota and a member of the institution’s Coyote Sports Hall of Fame, Kissock has 20 years of experience coaching at the high school and collegiate levels.
“Angie brings a wealth of knowledge to the post position,” Mahlum said. “Her experience as a collegiate player and a high school coach will provide valuable insight for our student-athletes and our program. I am extremely excited to have Angie join our staff and I look forward to seeing our current and future players experience her passion and energy.”
During her 10 seasons at Chanhassen, the Storm posted a record of 147-124 and won four conference championships, including three-straight Missota Conference titles from 2010-11 to 2012-13. Kissock led Chanhassen to a program-best 22 wins in 2011-12.
Kissock was previously an assistant coach for the girls varsity program at Chaska High School from 1999-04 and 2007-08 and spent the time between those stints as an assistant coach for the Augsburg University women’s basketball program. In addition to her coaching duties, Kissock worked as a personal wellness teacher at Chanhassen and a physical education teacher at Chaska.
In her playing days, Kissock was a four-year starter and two-time First Team All-North Central Conference honoree at South Dakota, where she averaged a double-double in each of her final two seasons. A 2013 inductee into the Coyote Sports Hall of Fame, Kissock ranked 17th in program history in scoring (1,081 points), third in rebounding (889) and fourth in steals (213) at the time of her induction.
Kissock graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1999 with a bachelor of science in education and went on to earn her master of teaching and learning in education from Saint Mary’s University (Minn.) in 2003.
