Wake Forest women’s basketball coach Jen Hoover announced the addition of assistant coach Erin Dickerson to the staff on Tuesday.
Dickerson, who has spent the last three seasons coaching at Georgetown, will primarily work with the Demon Deacon perimeter players this upcoming season while also having a key role in recruiting and scouting.
“I could not be more excited about the addition of Erin to our staff,” head coach Jen Hoover said. “She has proven to be a strong recruiter and has demonstrated the ability to develop some top perimeter players in her coaching career. Erin values the importance of relationships and brings an infectious, positive energy to all that she does. She will be a great role model and mentor for our young ladies as she pushes them on and off the court to achieve greatness.
Erin is truly one of the rising stars in our profession as evidenced by being named as a WBCA Thirty Under 30 in 2017. It is important to me to have the right fit for both my staff and our student-athletes. I truly believe Erin is a wonderful person who will bring a lot to our team. I am thrilled to welcome her, her fiancé Thomas and their daughter Lyla to our Wake family.”
During her time in Washington, DC, Dickerson worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Hoyas. She recruited the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the Big East in 2018. On the court, she helped guide the Hoyas to two WNIT appearances in her three seasons. This included a quarterfinal appearance in 2019.
Dickerson worked closely with the perimeter players including help mold All-Big East guards Dionna White, Dorothy Adamako, and Mikayla Venson. White was a First Team All-Big East performer as a junior and senior and won the 2018 Big East Defensive Player of the Year.
Under the tutelage of Dickerson, White broke the Georgetown all-time assist record, and ended her career as the second all-time leading scorer in Hoyas’ history with 2,071 points.
Before making the move to the nation’s capital, Dickerson was an associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Towson for two seasons. During that time, she was named to the prestigious WBCA Thirty Under 30 list as one of the best young coaches in the game.
Prior to her time at Towson, Dickerson worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Illinois State for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons and LaSalle during the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
Dickerson got her start as a collegiate coach right after graduating. Before moving to LaSalle, she coached one season at Furman in 2009-10,
She graduated from Northwestern with a bachelor’s degree in learning and organizational change in 2009. During her time in Evanston, Dickerson was a key piece on the Wildcat basketball program, seeing action in 112 games at guard. As a senior, she led Northwestern in 3-point shooting, converting 35 of 96 (36.5%), finishing in the top 10 in the Big 10 Conference.
Dickerson has a five-year-old daughter, Lyla. She is also in pursuit of her master’s degree from Georgetown in sports industry management.
