Pittsburg State University head women’s basketball coach Amanda Davied announced today (June 23) the recent hiring of Courtney Moran as the assistant coach for Gorilla Women’s Basketball.
Moran replaces former assistant coach Addy Roller who left campus earlier this spring for an assistant coach position at her alma mater, Drury University.
“We can’t wait to welcome Coach Moran into our program,” Davied said. “She came with raving recommendations and a tremendous amount of respect from every coach within our network. I think she is a rising young coach known for her tireless work ethic, passion and energy for the game, and her investment in her players on and off the court. Her background has prepared her well to fill our current needs, and I am positive that our players and our community will enjoy welcoming Courtney and her husband Dakota to Gorilla Nation. She is a perfect fit!”
Moran comes to Pitt State after serving the past year as the Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Nebraska Omaha. She brings four years of basketball coaching experience to the Gorilla Women’s Basketball program.
Moran also served during the 2018-19 season as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at NCAA Division II member University of Sioux Falls. Prior to USF, she spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at MIAA rival Northeastern State University.
As a player, Moran was a two-year team captain at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and an All-Conference pick her senior season. As a junior she helped the Lady Eagles to the program’s first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance.
A native of Blanchard, Okla., Moran earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Oklahoma Wesleyan in May 2016 and a master’s degree in kinesiology from Northeastern State in May 2018.
