UNC Pembroke Women’s Basketball Elevates Samuels-Eaton To Associate Head Coach

UNC Pembroke women’s basketball head coach John Haskins announced Wednesday afternoon that fourth-year assistant coach Kendra Samuels-Eaton has been promoted to associate head coach.

“Kendra has been a vital asset to our women’s basketball program over the last three years,” Haskins said. “She has an outstanding work ethic and leadership skills and her role has expanded each year. I am excited that she has agreed to accept the role of associate head coach.”

A native of Winston-Salem, Samuels-Eaton joined the women’s basketball coaching staff prior to the 2017-18 campaign following a five-year stint as an assistant coach at North Carolina Central. She has also held previous positions on the staff at Wake Forest and Western Carolina, and served as an intern in the women’s basketball office at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Samuels-Eaton played for Western Carolina from 2005-09 and finished her collegiate playing career with 721 points and 524 rebounds over 117 career games played. She helped lead the Catamounts to a Southern Conference (SoCon) tournament title as a senior, as well as an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management from WCU in 2009, and later earned her master’s degree in physical education and sport science from Central Missouri in 2011.
