Mize Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Lincoln U (MO)

John Moseley, Lincoln University Director of Athletics, announced on Monday (April 6) that Andrea “Drea” Mize will be the next head coach of the LU women’s basketball team.

“Coach Mize has had success everywhere she’s been, and has a proven track record of quickly turning around programs,” Moseley said. “We launched a national search for our next head coach and attracted many great candidates, but Coach Mize’s energy, passion and history of success preparing players for both games and for life set her apart. Our university and the Jefferson City community will benefit from her enthusiasm, and I’m excited to have her lead the next chapter of Lincoln University women’s basketball.”

“I would like to thank Dr. Jerald Jones Woolfolk and Coach Moseley for allowing me to join the Blue Tiger family,” Mize said. “I understand we have our work cut out for us, but I look forward to the opportunity to turn the Lincoln University women’s basketball program around in one of the toughest conferences in NCAA Division II, the MIAA. I can’t wait to get to Jefferson City and get to know the players, the community and the great people of the university.”

Mize spent the past two years as the head coach at Central Florida College, where she led the Patriots to 31 victories and a berth in the FCSAA State/NJCAA District tournament.  Mize took over a program that had won just eight games and increased its win total each season, improving to 12 wins in 2018-19 and a 19-victory campaign in 2019-20. The Patriots also improved in nearly every statistical category over the past two seasons, including on offense, where CFC went from average 62.6 points per game before Mize arrived to averaging 74.3 points this past season.

Prior to taking over at Central Florida College, Mize was an assistant coach at Martin Methodist College for three seasons, helping the RedHawks reach the NAIA national tournament each season. In 2017-18, Mize helped MMC win its first-ever regular season conference championship, and she helped the program twice reach the finals of the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament.

Mize coached the Indiana Flight AAU team for four years and had her own basketball training company for three years. Mize spent three seasons as a player at NCAA Division I Indiana University, where she played for Curt Miller, the current head coach of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun. Mize graduated from Indiana in 2015.
