According to multiple sources, Highland CC (KS) head coach BJ Smith has been suspended by the college. Current Highland men’s assistant Jon Oler coached the team as the acting head coach on Monday (a 118-41 win over Ellsworth CC). Additionally, I have heard that women’s assistant Brad Zinn has also been suspended. There have been no statements issued by the school.

Smith, the former head coach at DI Southeast Missouri State, has been at Highland for nine seasons. HCC is currently 14-0.

Oler is in his seventh season at Highland. He had previously spent 14 seasons as the head men’s basketball coach at Kansas City Kansas CC.

HCC is now the second Jayhawk Conference school with an acting/interim head coach, as Garden City CC (KS) made a change a few weeks ago. More on that one HERE.
