- The Women’s Basketball team competes at the NJCAA Division II level which allows MATC to provide athletic scholarships.
Seasonal/Part-Time
The coach is responsible for all activity relevant to the program including but not limited to pre-season preparation and activities, in-season practice and game organization and related activity, supervision of the team members, assistant coaches and related team personnel, equipment/uniform/apparel requests, inventory, involvement in the scheduling and budgeting process, recruitment of student athletes and thorough documentation of all recruiting activities and all pertinent duties and information related to post season wrap-up, including official representation at the annual Athletic Banquet. Effective and positive communication with all student athletes, team personnel, athletic staff and MATC staff is imperative and required.

1. Game Day duties: Prepare your field or court for all home games and help clean up after.
2. Develop and maintain positive and interactive communication with student athletes, team, department personnel and members of the MATC community.
3. Provides assistance to Athletic Director or designee with recruitment and hiring of coaching staff.
*4. Attends all practices and/or games unless advance approval for absence is granted by the Athletic Director.
5. Manages assigned coaching staff to include effective communication with and delegation of responsibilities to staff as appropriate.
*6. Plans and coordinates all relevant pre-season, in-season and post-season activities.
*7. Prepares and documents detailed practice, game plans and related activities.
*8. Develops drill work to improve team and individual skills.
9. Meets with players and/or parents of players when appropriate
*10. Monitors player academics throughout the year.
11. Assist department staff and Athletic Director in the budgeting process as requested.
12. Assists with all transportation and travel related issues and advises department staff. Responsible for travel claims, meal money for away games and tournaments. Completes required documentation as required by department or District policies.
13. Serves as driver for away games when required (You are required to complete the Defensive driving course through MATC before driving a school vehicle)
14. Submits student athlete eligibility information to the Athletic Director.
15. Communicates district policies, procedures and conduct expectations to student athletes. Monitors and manages student athlete compliance with same. Takes measures to address inappropriate conduct as necessary.
16. Accumulates statistical information at all contests as required.
17. Calls and faxes game results to local newspapers, TV and to the Athletic Director immediately following away games.
18. Develops and maintains contacts with local, state, regional and college coaches as well as professional scouts. Provides information as requested.
*19. Manages recruitment of student athletes and performs related communication and follow up via letters, home visits, phone calls etc. Documents all recruitment activities and contacts. Arranges and assists with campus visits.
20. Attends local and regional high school games, all required M.A.T.C. Coach meetings and participates in annual Athletic Banquet.
21. Attends state coaches’ clinic, high school state tournament games and high school all-star games.
*22. Assists with placement of athletes at four year institutions.
23. Obtains approval from Athletic Director for all team fundraising activities. Manages activities in compliance with department and District policies.
*24. Accumulates and assists with all post-season activity to include player evaluations, reports, statistical information, banquets
25. Collects all uniforms and equipment at end of season.
26. Performs miscellaneous job responsibilities as required and assigned by Athletic Director or designee.
27. Perform all duties as set forth in the Coaches Athletic Handbook;
28. Obtain pre-approval of practice time from the Athletic Director;
29. Assist Athletic Director along with the Athletic Director in managing and overseeing athletes’ participation in the academic advising process.
30. Comply with MATC’s District Employee Code of Ethics, C0700
31. Promptly report all violations of the MATC Student Athlete Handbook, and the MATC Student Code of Conduct to the Athletic Director or designee.
32. Maintain ongoing and regular communication with athletes and the Athletic Director
33. Comply with all applicable MATC policies and procedures
34. Supervise the activities of Assistant Coaches
35. Provide weekly reports to the Athletic Director
36. Complete American Red Cross Adult CPR and AED Certification within 30 days of the date of this contract.
- Qualifications
- Requires a high school education or equivalent and two years experience coaching high school varsity or club athletics or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies
* College degree, college coaching experience preferred.
