The Johns Hopkins women’s basketball team has added Bridget Rothert to its coaching staff, head coach Katherine Bixby announced this week.
“I am so thrilled to welcome Bridget to Johns Hopkins University and our basketball program,” said Bixby. “Her energy is contagious and she has incredible enthusiasm for coaching basketball. I know she will be an incredible teacher and mentor for our student-athletes.”
A 2016 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, Rothert comes to Baltimore after spending the prior two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Marymount University. During her stint in Arlington, the Saints compiled a two-year record of 47-9 with Capital Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2018 and a 2019 Atlantic East Conference championship in the program’s inaugural AEC campaign.
Rothert began her collegiate playing career at Division II Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C.. As a freshman, she was a part of the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament before transferring to Lebanon Valley for her final three years of eligibility.
The Germantown, MD-native helped LVC to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances (2013, 2014) and a 2015 ECAC Championship in her three seasons with the Dutchmen. A prolific scorer during her time in Annville, Rothert holds the school record for three-pointers made in a game (7) and sits second on the program’s single-season scoring list (459 points, 2014-15).
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Rothert has always demonstrated a strong desire to help out in her community. Most recently, she has been an active volunteer with the Just for Kids DC organization, assisting with fundamental skill development and promoting physical activity for children in the DMV area.
