O’Connor Added To Northwestern College Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Northwestern College has announced the hiring of Kacie O’Connor as a graduate assistant for the Red Raider women’s basketball program. O’Connor will begin her duties this summer.

O’Connor is a 2018 graduate of Wayne State College (Neb.), where she was a member of the Wildcats’ women’s basketball program four years. She served as a team captain in both 2017 and 2018 and finished with a degree in K-12 health and physical education.

“Kacie has a driven personality that is matched by a strong competitive spirit,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Chris Yaw. “In addition, she comes from a family of, and a special understanding of, what it takes to serve athletes and coach at a successful level.  Thus we are excited and look forward to having Kacie join our women’s basketball coaching staff.”

Most recently, O’Connor was a substitute teacher and assistant girls’ basketball coach for Sundance High School (Wyo.) during the 2018-19 academic year.

“We are excited to have Kacie teach and guide our players as she draws upon her own successful playing experience and time spent growing up around coaching,” commented Yaw. “Her motivation to help make our players the best they can be is evident. Kacie’s passion to learn and commit to growing in the coaching profession is a huge plus for our players, coaching staff and athletic staff at Northwestern.”
