University at Buffalo head women’s basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has announced the addition of assistant coach Candice M. Jackson to the coaching staff. A four-year letter-winner at Michigan State University from 2000-04, Jackson played for Legette-Jack during her tenure as an assistant coach with the Spartans.
Most recently, Jackson was the head coach at the College of Charleston, a position she had held since the 2014-15 season. In her tenure with the Cougars, Jackson led the team to two CAA Tournament wins and mentored star guard Breanna Bolden to three consecutive CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors, as well as three All-CAA nods.

She has a great personality, is an incredible recruiter and relationship-builder and is willing to do anything and everything to help us grow our program. She will be the recruiting coordinator and from her past experiences as an assistant coach she seeks and gets the best student-athletes in the country. Prior to joining the Cougars, Jackson spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Duke University under head coach Joanne P. McCallie. She worked mainly with the guards and was a part of back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 2012 and 2013. During her time on the Blue Devils’ staff, Jackson helped sign three of the top recruiting classes in the nation. In 2012, Duke inked the seventh-best recruiting class in the country which included the No. 3 overall prospect in Alexis Jones, and the No. 2 signing classes in 2013 and 2014.
In all, she worked with 12 McDonald’s High School All-Americans, two WNBA First Round draft picks, two USBWA All-Americans, three Associated Press All-Americans and 15 ACC All-Academic Team selections.
Prior to Duke, Jackson spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest University under head coach Mike Petersen. There, she aided in the signing of the program’s first Top 100 signee and mentored two All-ACC selections. Jackson also helped lead the Demon Deacons to an 18-14 overall record and WNIT appearance in 2009-10.
Prior to her arrival at Wake Forest, Jackson spent four successful seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Richmond under head coach Michael Shafer, where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 2005-06 to a 24-10 finish and WNIT berth in 2008-09.
During her time with the Spartans, Jackson served as team captain during her junior and senior years and led the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003 and 2004. She then remained at her alma mater to serve as a graduate assistant coach for the 2004-05 squad that advanced all the way to the National Championship Game.
Originally from Lansing, Mich., Jackson was a three-time MVP at Lansing Everett High School, the same alma mater as Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and guided her team to the state title game as a senior.
Jackson replaces Cherie Cordoba who was recently named assistant coach at LSU.
