Saint Francis University (PA) announced today that Joe Haigh, Women’s Basketball Head Coach, is taking a leave of absence for personal reasons. Director of Athletics Susan Robinson-Fruchtl will serve as interim head coach. She previously served as Saint Francis head coach from 2007-2012.
Haigh is 93-100 in his 6+ seasons at St. Francis, including 0-2 this season. The Red Flash lost last week on the road to both Rutgers and Baylor.
Robinson Fruchtl departed Saint Francis back in 2012 to become the head women’s coach at Providence. She went 25-94 in her four seasons at the helm of the Friars before returning to become the AD at SFU. Robinson Fruchtl, a former All-American as a player at Penn State, is one of only two players in Lady Lion history to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds and was the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,253 points until her record was broken in 2004.
