Katherine Graham, who most recently served as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia, has been named Georgia’s Director of Player Personnel and Women’s Basketball Administration, head coach Joni Taylor announced.
Graham has spent the last two seasons in Charlottesville, Virginia and helped guide the Cavaliers to a 20-win campaign in 2016-17 and a NCAA tournament berth in 2017-18.
“I’m truly honored and excited about this opportunity to join Coach Taylor’s staff as well as return to the Georgia Bulldog family,” Graham said. “The University of Georgia, especially the women’s basketball program, is special because of the quality of its staff and their intentionality to the overall development of our student-athletes. Being a former player of Coach Taylor’s, I can attest first-hand to her impact on my life as a player as well as my professional development. I look forward to working with such an incredible coaching staff, aiding in the development of our student-athletes, as well as fostering relationships throughout the athletic department and the University.”
In addition to her time on coach Joanne Boyle’s staff at Virginia, Graham was an assistant coach at Lipscomb during the 2014-15 season and at Western Kentucky during the 2015-16 campaign. Graham was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year starter at LSU from 2007-11, reaching the Final Four in 2008. She was the 25th player in program history to finish with 500 career rebounds (513) while also finishing her career with 295 assists and 713 points.
“Katherine is the whole package,” Taylor said. “She is someone who is a rising star in our profession, and I am thrilled to have her on our staff. Katherine has played for and coached with some of the best coaches in women’s basketball. She has an extensive knowledge of the game and has an infectious personality that makes her a joy to be around. I know our young ladies have already enjoyed getting to know her, and I am beyond excited to welcome her back to Athens.”
Graham was named to the SEC Coaches All-Defensive Team her senior season and is one of two players in program history to record a triple double. Following her collegiate playing career, she spent one season playing professional basketball in Iceland before heading to Georgia, where she spent two seasons as a graduate assistant from 2012-14.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports administration from Louisiana State University in 2011 and a Masters of Science in sports administration from the University of Georgia in 2014.
