After helping lead Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College to a 32-1 record and a spot in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championships, Clint Williams has joined the Morehead State women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
“Clint will be our post position coach and recruiting coordinator. I am excited about his recruiting contacts with international and junior college players,” said head coach Greg Todd. “He has been a winner with every coaching opportunity he has had and will be an awesome addition to our staff.”
A three year member of the Greyhounds’ coaching staff, Williams helped guide Moberly to a 73-23 overall record. The 2017-18 Moberly squad finished with a school-record 96.9 winning percentage, capturing the NJCAA Region 16 and District K championships.
Williams coached Anisha George, the Region 16 Player of the Year and WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, in 2017-18. In his time at several stops too, he has coached 14 all-region or all-conference players.
Alongside his duties with Moberly, Williams serves as an associate women’s basketball coach for the Virgin Islands Senior Women’s National Team. With the Virgin Islands National Team, he is responsible for selecting the team’s players and organizing multiple facets of the team’s program. The team won the gold medal at the 2017 FIBA Centrobasket Tournament and defeated eight-ranked (in the world) Brazil at the FIBA Americas Tournament.
Prior to his three-year stint with Moberly, Williams spent a season as an assistant with NCAA Division II program Merrimack (Mass.) College. He helped the Warriors to a 14-13 record during the 2014-15 campaign
Williams also spent a pair of season working with the men’s basketball staff at his alma mater Tuskegee (Ala.). During the 2013-14 season, he helped Tuskegee to a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament Elite Eight.
Williams graduated from Arkansas Baptist College in 2010 with an associate’s degree in African American Leadership before transferring to finish up his basketball career at Tuskegee. He averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game at Tuskegee and eventually played professionally for the ABA’s Georgia Gwizzlies and the Kings team in the New Breed Basketball Association in the Virgin Islands. There he averaged 18 points and 14 rebounds per game.
He graduated from Tuskegee in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
