Carper Resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Aurora University

Aurora University head women’s basketball coach Brittany Carper announced she will step down from her position at the helm of the Spartan program after five years.

Carper began her tenure at AU in March of 2013 when she was named the 17th Head Coach of the AU women’s basketball program. In her five seasons, the Spartans had a 57-74 overall record and were 50-50 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. This year’s Spartans went 14-12 overall and 12-8 in the NACC which was good for a sixth place conference finish. The 2015-2016 Spartans went 17-11 and made a run in the NACC Tournament before falling in the Tournament Final. In her first season of 2013-2014, Carper was named the NACC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

“I want to thank Brittany for her time and efforts to make AU Women’s Basketball a competitive program. She walked into a complete rebuild, turned the program around and now the team is in the best place that it has been in years,” said AU Director of Athletics Jim Hamad. “Brittany has positively influenced the lives of dozens of young women in her time on the AU campus.”

Nne players received Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference All-Conference recognition in her time with current freshman guard Julie Galauner being named the 2017-2018 NACC Freshman of the Year.

A national search for the next head coach of the women’s basketball program at Aurora University is underway.
