Bridgewater College women’s basketball head coach Sarah Mathews has announced the addition of Marita Mathe to the Eagles’ coaching staff for the 2017-18 season.
“Marita brings extensive basketball knowledge to our staff and will be an invaluable asset to our program,” Mathews said. “I cannot wait to see the impact she has on both current and future players.”
Mathe, a native of Indiana, Pa., played college basketball in her hometown for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from IUP with a degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Sciences.
Mathe was a four-year starter at point guard for IUP and served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 9.2 points per game during her career and finished just shy of the 1,000 career point mark with 984 points. She ranks third in IUP history in 3-point field goals made, sixth in 3-point shooting percentage and seventh in assists. As a senior she ranked third in the nation in Division II in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Mathe is currently employed by the Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Harrisonburg as a loss control consultant.
