Former Queens College standout Kristen Korzevinski has joined the NYIT women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach.
Korzevinski, a former East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year and third-team all-league selection, served as a student assistant coach at her alma mater during the 2016-17 season as the Knights reached Division II’s Elite Eight.
She averaged 10.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for Queens during a four-year playing career that spanned the 2012-13 through 2015-16 seasons.
In her final game against NYIT, Korzevinski scored a game-high 18 points on Feb. 10, 2016, although the Bears prevailed in double-overtime.
Korzevinski topped Dina Ragab for the ECC Rookie of the Year Award back in 2013. Ragab went on to become NYIT’s all-time leading scorer, with 1,565 points.
Korzevinski hails from New Hyde Park on Long Island. She graduated from Queens with degrees in psychology as well as communications sciences and disorders.
“Kristen brings a lot of experience to our staff,” NYIT head coach Kenny Parham said. “She played in the ECC for four years and had a standout career, plus spent a year as a coach in the ECC.”
Korzevinski takes the spot of Dana Carney, who will remain on the staff in a volunteer capacity. Carney recently welcomed a newborn to her family.
