Pacific University Names Larry Davis Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach for 2017-18

Pacific University assistant women’s basketball coach Larry Davis has been named interim head coach for the 2017-18 season.

Pacific athletic director Ken Schumann said, “Larry has been a valuable member of our women’s basketball coaching staff over the past four years and we are looking forward to his continued good work with the program in the upcoming year.”

Davis just finished his fourth season as an assistant coach on the women’s basketball staff. While at Pacific, he has served as the head coach of the junior varsity program. He is an accomplished teacher of the game with over 20 years of high school and collegiate experience.

In addition to his coaching duties, he has served as the owner and director of the Give and Go Basketball Academy, a youth program developed to assist young student-athletes in achieving their potential and dreams.

Before joining the Pacific staff, he was the head women’s basketball coach at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. During his tenure, he took a program from a one-win season into one of the top tier teams in the Southern Region of the Northwest Athletic Conference. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at Concordia University with the men’s program.

Davis has also been a clinician at numerous camps and schools across the nation. He has shared his knowledge at the highly-noted Snow Valley Basketball Academy, Player Pro Camp in Hawaii and the Nike Girls Skills Academy.

The Oregon native resides in Milwaukie along with his wife, Jennifer and their seven kids – Dominic, Isabella (D), Josiah, Christian, Gabrielle, Sophia and Jillian.

Schumann noted that the university will begin a search for a permanent Head Coach in the spring of 2018.
