SIUE women’s basketball Head Coach Paula Buscher announced Thursday that she has promoted Todd Schultze to be the Associate Head Coach for the Cougars.

Schultze joined Buscher as an assistant coach back in 2012 when she became the program’s fifth head coach.

“He exemplifies high character and the core values that we strive for in our program,” said Buscher. “He has a vast amount of knowledge and expertise for the game, his passion for SIUE and our women’s basketball program is evident in his daily approach.”

Schultze has been a big part of the Cougars’ three consecutive seasons advancing to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament. He has been a major reason for SIUE’s three first team selections and three players among the All-Newcomer team over the past five seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference.

A native of Ottawa, Kansas, he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Ottawa University in 1992 and later completed a master’s in education with an emphasis in biomechanics, sports administration, and sports psychology at Kansas in 1994.
