Quite literally, Jessica Findley grew up at Oklahoma Christian, often tagging along as a child with her mother, OC women’s basketball coach Stephanie Findley, then later attending OC and playing for the Lady Eagles.
Now she’s coming back home, to join her mother’s coaching staff as an assistant for the 2016-17 season. Stephanie Findley made the announcement, adding her daughter to a staff that includes head assistant coach Lisa Zamroz and longtime assistant Larry Truesdell.
“Jessica has been a valuable recruiter for me her whole life,” Stephanie Findley said. “She has also been an excellent student of the game. Her fresh ideas and perspective will give us new energy. It’s exciting to have her back with us and it will greatly enhance our social media presence!”
Jessica Findley played for OC for three seasons, from 2009-10 through 2011-12. She was part of the OC team that reached the NAIA quarterfinals in 2010 and was named as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete following the 2011-12 season.
She served during the 2012-13 season as a program assistant for the Lady Eagles, graduating in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in English. She is the author of a children’s book, “Thunderella.”
The past two years, she’s worked as an assistant girls basketball coach at Deer Creek High School in Edmond and an English teacher at Deer Creek Middle School. She will continue with her teaching duties while assisting at OC, as she also works on a master’s degree in wellness from the University of Central Oklahoma.
“Coaching alongside my mother has always been my dream and I am excited to make that a reality,” Jessica Findley said.
Stephanie Findley will be entering her 32nd season as OC’s head coach this November.
